🍫 Chocolate Buttermilk Cake
🧁 Ingredients
For the cake:

2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour

2 cups (400g) granulated sugar

¾ cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder

2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

2 large eggs

1 cup (240ml) buttermilk (room temperature)

½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil

1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 cup (240ml) hot coffee (or hot water)
For the chocolate frosting (optional but recommended):

½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened

⅔ cup (65g) unsweetened cocoa powder

3 cups (360g) powdered sugar
-
⅓ cup (80ml) milk or buttermilk
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
Pinch of salt
🔥 Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans (or one 9×13-inch pan).

Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Add wet ingredients: Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla. Beat until smooth (about 2 minutes).

Add hot coffee: Slowly stir in hot coffee. Batter will be thin — that’s normal!

Bake:

30–35 minutes for round pans

35–40 minutes for 9×13 pan
Cake is done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool completely before frosting.
🍫 Frosting

Beat butter until creamy.

Add cocoa powder and mix well.

Alternate adding powdered sugar and milk.

Add vanilla and salt. Beat until fluffy.

Frost cooled cake.
💡 Tips

Coffee enhances the chocolate flavor but won’t make the cake taste like coffee.

For extra richness, substitute half the oil with melted butter.
